Answer: A voter is eligible to vote in the US Senate Special Republican Primary if they: 

• Were registered to vote by  the deadline; and
• Voted a Republican ballot in either the June Primary or the June Primary Runoff; or
• Did not vote in either of the June Primaries or runoffs.

A voter is not eligible to vote in the US Senate Special Republican Primary if they:

• Voted a Democratic ballot in either the June Primary or the June Primary Runoff; or
• Registered to vote after the deadline.

Answer: Yes.

Your voting history is available through the State Election Commission's MySCVotes.gov portal. Log in and select Voting Activity, then Voter History to see your past voting participation, including which party's ballot you voted in for the June Primary.

Answer: Candidate filing closes at 12:00PM on Tuesday, July 28.

After filing closes, ballots will be prepared. The State Election Commission will prepare the ballots. Sample ballots will be available on SCVotes.gov once that process is complete. In the meantime, you can view candidates who have filed through the State Election Commission's Candidate Tracking System.

Answer: If no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast, a runoff election will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Answer: Yes, early voting will be held Wednesday, August 5 through Friday, August 7 from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM at the Charleston County Elections Office (4340 Corporate Road, North Charleston, SC 29405).

If necessary, runoff early voting will be held Wednesday, August 19 – Friday, August 21 from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM at the Charleston County Elections Office (4340 Corporate Road, North Charleston, SC 29405).

Answer: Due to the abbreviated timeline for this election, not all standard polling locations were available for the US Senate Special Republican Primary.

Answer: No.

Absentee voters (excluding UOCAVA voters) must submit a new absentee ballot application for the U.S. Senate Special Republican Primary. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Friday, July 31. However, we recommend requesting an absentee ballot application by Tuesday, July 28, if it will be mailed to you, to allow adequate time for the application to be delivered and returned to our office before the deadline.

Answer: The State Election Commission expects to provide final ballot proofs and election databases to counties on Friday, July 31.

Our office will begin mailing absentee ballots as soon as possible after receiving the finalized ballot information. The current estimated mailing date is Monday, August 3.

Answer: Absentee ballots applications must be received by our office by 5:00PM on Friday, July 31, whether completed in person or by mail.

For mailed absentee ballot applications, we highly recommend requesting one by Tuesday, July 28, to allow time for delivery and return before the deadline.

Answer: A voter is eligible to vote under UOCAVA only if they are:

• A member of the Uniformed Services or Merchant Marine on active duty (or an eligible family member); or
• A United States citizen residing outside of the United States.

A voter who is temporarily traveling or on vacation outside of the United States is not eligible to register or vote as a UOCAVA voter.

Answer: Current UOCAVA voters with a declared party preference of Republican, who did not previously vote Democratic in the Statewide Primary, will receive their ballot according to their requested delivery method.

Given the abbreviated timeline for the U.S. Senate Special Republican Primary, the State Election Commission recommends that UOCAVA voters opt for electronic delivery.
