The educational program at the Juvenile Detention Center is part of Turning Point Academy (TPA), which is an alternative program in the Charleston County School District. Under the leadership of Principal Michael De Jong, the program is dedicated to ensuring students remain on track academically while in a secure setting. Adhering to the CCSD academic calendar, the program also offers an extended year summer session to support continuous learning. Throughout the school year, students engage in a 6-hour daily school schedule, designed to meet their unique needs.

Each learner receives a tailored educational plan, which may include special education and related services. While some continue in their prior CCSD school coursework, others are enrolled in the CCSD school district, and a new schedule is developed based on the current school transcript. In addition to core academics, students also receive twice-weekly Social Emotional lessons from a CCSD school counselor and vocational instruction from a CCSD career specialist, leading to various work certifications such as OSHA.
